- Universal Ballet : Director’s Message
I want to thank the many people who have made it possible for us to be here today, starting with our Founders and Patrons, Dr. & Mrs. Sun Myung Moon, without whose support we could not continue to present you the beauty of classical ballet. We also owe our presence here to the vision and dedication of the ballet artists who guided the company through these past few decades: founding Artistic Director Adrienne Dellas, Artistic Director Emeritus Oleg Vinogradov, and our current Artistic Director, Brian Yoo.
Our World Tour features our original creation, Shim Chung - The Blindman's Daughter, based on an old Korean story. I especially love this ballet because it portrays the deep love that Shim Chung has for her father, and reminds us of what a glorious thing the family is. Showing Shim Chung's happiness when she is finally reunited with her father, and the miracle that restores his sight, this ballet reminds us of the joy that is waiting for us when we stay connected to the people in our lives and devote ourselves to helping those around us to find happiness.
Our tour also includes Giselle, Don Quixote, our new Korean full-length ballet, The Love of Chunhyung and Swan Lake. I hope that all of you will be able to come and see us somewhere during our World Tour. May the beauty of ballet touch your hearts and bring you joy.
