* The original production of The Nutcracker was created in 1892, with a libretto by Marius Petipa and choreography by Lev Ivanov, was performed at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia. Vasily Vainonen’s version of The Nutcracker, which retained Ivanov’s Grand Pas de Deux, premiered at the same theatre in 1934.

* Universal Ballet first presented a version of The Nutcracker created by Adrienne Dellas in 1986 at the Little Angels Performing Arts Center (now the Universal Arts Center) in Seoul, Korea, followed by Roy Tobias’ version starting in 1990. Beginning with the performances at the Seoul Opera House in 1999, Universal Ballet has performed the version choreographed by Vasily Vainonen.
