Repertory Development

• New ballet work creation
• Acquisition of a license for an overseas performance
Universal Ballet has presented creative works aimed at the globalization of Korean ballet, such as <Shim Chung> and <The Love of Chunhyang>, and has been praised for its "great harmony of Eastern and Western cultures.“ In 2022, <The Ballerina>, which expresses the daily life of ballet dancers in a unique way, and in 2023, <Korea Emotion 情> a neoclassical ballet that melts Korean affection, were introduced. In addition, we have established our foundation as a classical ballet company and have acquired a license to perform European drama and modern ballet to diversify our repertoires.

Performance Production

• Costume and stage set production & maintenance
Each performance requires adjusting the size of costumes to fit each dancer’s body shape, as well as repairing old costumes. The stage set also needs to be repaired or newly produced before each performance. Sometimes, tens of millions of won are spent on costume and stage set production and repair. Through this process, dancers can perform freely without any inconvenience, and the audience can be more fully immersed in the performance.

Support for Dancers

• Support for ballet supplies
• Improvement of the ballet studio environment, health care, and fitness room
Toe shoes are short-lived consumables because they are made from layers of paper. For both practice and performance, each dancer uses two to three pairs of toe shoes per week, so we provide support. Moreover, we have four ballet studio halls on each floor and operate health care and fitness rooms for the dancers. The ongoing improvement of these facilities helps the dancers maintain optimal condition.

Scholarship

• Support for student dancers
(Universal Ballet Junior Company)
The Universal Ballet Junior Company was founded in 2015 with the aim of cultivating the next generation of talent to lead both Korean and global ballet. Each year, we provide systematic and professional training to gifted students selected through auditions, offered on a full scholarship basis. Furthermore, the Junior Company’s regular performances give students valuable stage experience, and some are even given the opportunity to perform with the Universal Ballet.
